Pregnancy, breastfeeding and gravity all affect a women’s breasts. As a women ages, the loss of elasticity of the skin leads to changes in breast appearance and firmness, and they with time, begin to droop. Breast lift or mastopexy is a surgical method by which the breast is given a new look, strength and position while retaining its own volume. Breast lift is performed under general anesthesia. The operation takes 2 to 3 hours. The sutures are commonly placed around the areola, in a vertical line from the nipple to the infra mammary groove and sometimes horizontally along the infra mammary groove. If the patients at the same time as the breast lift would like an increase in volume a silicone implant or patient’s own fat cells are used. Usually the patient remains in the Polyclinic until the next day for safety and monitoring purpose.
