Otoplasty is an aesthetic ear surgery that corrects the projection of the ear. The lobes are shaped creating a more aesthetically harmonious ear which is closer to the head with the correction of the shape and position. The shape and position of the lobes significantly contribute to the overall appearance of the face. The appearance of protruding ears may be one-sided or both, symmetrical or asymmetric. Otoplasty is an outpatient surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia and is easily tolerable and painless for the patient. The lobes are bandaged after surgery and is left in place for only 24-48 hours. Afterwards, a protective head band is recommended which is worn for up to 3 weeks after surgery. The stiches are removed after 7 to 10 days. The scars after the procedure are hidden behind the ears and can not be seen.
